Orland "Curly" L. Kotil was born on July 26, 1927 to John and Irma (Gerner) Kotil in rural Friend, Nebraska and passed away in York, Nebraska on June 10, 2012, at the age of 84 years, 10 months and 15 days. Curly attended school in Crete before moving to Milford. Curly joined the Merchant Marines during W.W.II. After he was honorably discharged he went back to Crete. Curly married Shirley Danekas on October 3, 1948 and to this union 4 children were born. Curly began working at Nebraska Public Power District as a lineman in 1950. He eventually became an inspector before retiring in 1985. Curly later married Joanne "Skippy" Hill on March 14, 1992. He was a founding member of Blue Valley Bass Club and also enjoyed hunting and bowling. He was also a fan of dancing, big band music and the Huskers. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Elmer, daughter-in-law Bev, grandson Jesse, niece Cindy. Curly is survived by his wife Skippy of Seward, children, Dan Kotil of Staplehurst, Doug (Vikki) Kotil of Lincoln, Annie (Craig) Adamek of Seward, Karla (Dean) Senff of Hampton. 6 grandchildren, Jared Kotil of Omaha, Zeb Kotil of Seward, Amber (Jeromy) Rowse of Lincoln, Drew (Carrie) Kotil of Lincoln, Mark (Rachel) Senff of Grand Island, Nikkol Senff of Aurora and several great grandchildren. Stepchildren, Marta (Tom) Roeder of Central City, Chuck (Joan) Hill of Gretna, 4 Step grandchildren, Derek Roeder of Fullerton, Cory (Tawny) Roeder of Omaha, Whitney Hill and special friend Lawrence Weatherall of Omaha and Natalie Hill of Gretna. 2 Brothers, Roger (Shirleen) Kotil of David City and Dallas (Darlene) Kotil of Lincoln.
