and one hour prior to the service at the church

Oscar Henrick Mumm was born on December 8, 1911 on a farm 2 miles east of Staplehurst, Nebraska to John Henrick Mumm and Mary (Swanson) Mumm and passed away on June 24, 2007 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 95 years, 9 months, and 16 days.

Oscar was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Staplehurst and attended country School at District 70 Pilot Ridge. He farmed with his father until his father's death. Oscar served in Europe during World War II where he earned 5 battle stars and was awarded the Purple Heart. On November 27, 1941 Oscar was united in marriage to Wilma Munk at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Staplehurst. In October of 1950, they moved to Seward County where they farmed southeast of Staplehurst. He and Wilma moved into Seward in 1980. Oscar enjoyed working and visiting with people, playing cards, fishing and spending time with his family. He served on the Church Council of Our Savior Lutheran Church of Staplehurst, Pella Lutheran of Omaha and Faith Lutheran of Seward. Oscar was also a member of the VFW # 4755.

Oscar is preceded in death by his wife, Wilma; 3 sisters, Edna Stanley, Ruth Smith & Alma Brabo.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Bonnie Mumm of Kearney, NE; daughter, Kathy Spangler of Overland Park, KS; grandchildren, Jackie Gill and husband, Jim, Erik Mumm and his fiance' Angela Shannon, Todd Spangler and Ian Spangler; great grandson, Jack Gill; sister, Lenore Pentz of Beaverton, OR; as well as nephews, nieces and cousins.
