Otto Henry Sahn was born February 26, 1917 in Grand Junction, Colorado to Henry W. and Elizabeth W. (Michael) Sahn and passed away in Milford, Nebraska on Saturday, January 5, 2008 at the age of 90 years, 10 months, 9 days. He spent his childhood years in Missouri Valley, Iowa where he was a 1935 graduate of Missouri Valley High School. Glendora Hammer danced into Otto's life and they were married on September 7, 1941 at the Lutheran Church in Omaha, Nebraska just before Otto was called into the military efforts of World War II. Upon his return, Otto and Glendora moved to Seward where he worked with his brother, Louis, at the Sahn Chevrolet dealership before embarking on a 22 year career as manager of Otto's Conoco. Otto enjoyed memberships in the VFW Post No. 4755, American Legion Post No. 33, Seward Chamber of Commerce, City Council, Seward Country Club and various groups around Seward and Otto and Glendora had been designated as Honorary members of Kiwanis Kitones. Otto was a member and worshiped at St. John Lutheran Church. Some of his favorite activities included cribbage, golf, travel, dancing, singing, and, of course, cigars. Otto was preceded in death by his parents and 7 brothers, Hayward, Louis, Raymond, Lawrence, Roy, Harlan and Vernon. He is survived by his wife, Glendora Sahn of Seward; his son and daughter-in-law, Delbert and Connie Sahn of Seward; daughters and son-in-law, Marbeth Sahn of Everett, Washington and Nancy and John Wolf of Snohomish, Washington; grandchildren and spouses, Sarah and Max Collinge, Bethany and Craig Robinson, and Dan Sahn; great-grandchildren, Hannah Collinge, Isaiah Robinson; nieces and nephews; other relatives and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Otto. |
