Paul Raymond Peters was born on April 15, 1935, in David City, Nebraska to Piet and Minnie (Jacobs) Peters and passed away on July 4, 2026, in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 91 years, 2 months and 19 days.
Paul attended Surprise grade school and graduated from Ulysses High School with the class of 1954. He entered the United States Army in August of 1954. Paul received his basic training in Fort Lee, Virginia. He was stationed in Austria for ten months and eight months in Italy, working with G-2 Intelligence. He was honorably discharged in August of 1956.
Paul was united in marriage to Lucille Brym on January 11, 1958, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ulysses, Nebraska and to this union three children were born.
Throughout his life he was employed by Ulysses Lumberyard, Dave Tuma Construction, Jirovsky & Feigion Construction and Schweitzer Construction, with the majority of those years being spent with Jirovsky & Feigion.
Paul was a lifetime member of the David City VFW. He was a past member of the Ulysses Volunteer Fire Department and a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, serving as an usher for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 51 years, Lucille (2009); brothers, John Peters and Bill (Marietta) Peters; sisters, Nellie (Morrie) Brockeveldt, Marie (Joe) Kozisek, Dorothy (Carl) Zegers, Christine Kozisek; brother-in-law, Henry Brockevelt.
Survivors cherishing his memory include his children, Julie (Gary) Schaefer, Seward, Delores Pflueger, Utica, Robert (Sharon) Peters, Clive, Iowa; four grandsons, Matt and Jason Schaefer, Nate and Austin Pflueger; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Virginia Brockevelt; sister-in-law, Norma Jean Peters; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
