Paul Joseph Schmidt was born November 8, 1917 near Utica, Nebraska to Joseph Adolph and Bertha (Hennings) Schmidt and passed away on January 17, 2006 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 88 years, 2 months, 9 days. Paul attended country school District No. 42. On January 17, 1942, Paul was united in marriage to Anna May Westerhoff in Cuming Country, Nebraska. Paul served in the U.S. Army during WW II. The couple farmed southwest of Seward until 1981, when they moved to Seward. Paul also worked for Denmar Equipment for 11 years. Anna May passed away in 1997. Paul was a member of the United Church of Christ in Seward and a member of American Legion Post No. 49 in Utica. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Bertha Schmidt; his wife, Anna May Schmidt; brother and sister-in-law, Elmer and Adela Schmidt; brothers-in-law, Edward Schultze, Wilfred Joe Richters, Clarence Knuth; sister-in-law, Marjorie Stephens. Paul is survived by his sisters, Lela Knuth, York and Gladys Schultze, Gresham; brother, Ralph Schmidt, Norfolk; sister-in-law, LaRue Richters, Seward; brother-in-law, Earl Stephens, Seward; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers, and memories of life shared with Paul. |
