Ronald James Brandenburgh was born August 4, 1918 near Bellwood, Nebraska to Lemual and Etta Mae (Smith) Brandenburgh and passed away at his home surrounded by his family on December 1, 2007, at the age of 89 years, 3 months, 28 days. He attended School District No. 76 in Butler County, Nebraska and on May 13, 1933 he received his 8th grade diploma. On March 15, 1942, R. J. was united in marriage to LaRue Ellen Schultze. R.J. was employed by Hughes Brothers Manufacturing in Seward for 36 years, he worked in the steel department in heavy assembly. He was a member of the Steel Workers Union. He was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ in Seward and Odd Fellows Lodge. R. J. was preceded in death by his wife, LaRue Brandenburgh in 1990; his parents, Lemual and Etta Mae Brandenburgh; his daughter, Joy Ann; brothers, Lemual Buck Brandenburg, Bob Brandenburgh, Dick Brandenburgh; sister, Millie and brother-in-law; brother-in-law, John Grigsby. R. J. is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Doyle Danekas of Seward, Jo and Greg Matulka of Ulysses, Linda and Jeary Morgan of Utica; sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald Brandenburgh, Jr., of Ulysses, Russ and Vicky Brandenburgh of Beaver Crossing, Bryan and Stacey Brandenburgh of Raymond; 13 grandchildren, Darin, Dana, Shelley, Shelia, Kim, Mindy, Allison, Trey, Travis, Trevor, Jason, Amanda and Zach; 11 great-grandchildren, Cara, Brandon, Shalyn, Lane, Grant, McKenzie, Kendra, Avery, Ryleigh, Madison, and Garret. Additional survivors include his brothers and sisters-in-law, Charlie and Lila Brandenburgh of Bellwood, Jim and Deloris Brandenburgh of Arlington, Texas; sisters and brother-in-law, Goldie Grigsby of Seward, Thelma Babe and Don Peters of Bellwood; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Brandenburg of Seward, Peggy Brandenburgh of San Diego, California and Merlene Brandenburgh of Fremont; other relatives and a host of friends.
