Randall Irl "Randy" Anspach was born on February 25, 1949, in Hastings, Nebraska to Irl and Dora (Reynolds) Anspach and passed away on October 5, 2022, at his home with his wife by his side in Malcolm, Nebraska at the age of 73 years, 7 months and 10 days.
Randy was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Hastings, Nebraska on April 10, 1949, and later confirmed in 1963 at the same church. He attended elementary and junior high at Zion Lutheran School in Hastings. Upon his father's death, he made his home with his aunt and uncle, Harold and Alyce Arp of Pleasanton, Nebraska. Randy attended school in Pleasanton and graduated with the Class of 1967. He often talked about how his uncle Harold taught him his good work ethic, especially fixing fences and cutting musk thistles.
Randy was united in marriage on August 30, 1969, to Betty Heider at Grace Lutheran Church in Pleasanton, Nebraska. To this union one son, Bryan, was born in 1977. This year they celebrated their 53 rd wedding anniversary.
Randy worked at Caldwell Manufacturing in Kearney as a sheet metal worker and was taught the welding trade there. Randy and Betty lived in Kearney and Riverdale before moving to Lincoln, Nebraska in 1976. He worked at Walker Muffler in Seward and Aaron Machine in Lincoln, before working at Telex and Bosch Communications for 37 years. Randy was a machinist who enjoyed designing and fabricating tools for the facility. Some of the tools that he crafted were used in Mexico. Randy traveled to various places within the United States and Norway repairing communication towers.
Randy liked to watch sprint car racing and NASCAR, traveling with Betty to Las Vegas, Bristol, and Talladega for races. He enjoyed pitching slow pitch softball and riding his motorcycle, never a Harley. Randy enjoyed traveling to many states and Canada on his motorcycle with friends.
Randall is preceded in death by his parents; aunts and uncles, Harold and Alyce Arp and Shorty and Ruth Williams; parents-in-law, Orville and Dorothy Heider; brother-in-law, Henry Heider.
Survivors cherishing his memory include his wife, Betty Anspach, Malcolm; son, Bryan Anspach and friend Kim Cook, Lincoln; grandsons, Tristan and Cooper; sisters and brother-in-law, Susan and Jack Plonkey and Jane Jungwirth; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Janet Heider; sister-in-law Susan Wallace and several nieces and nephews. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of a life shared with Randy.
