Obituary

Ray Dean Richardson was born November 7, 1937 in Corydon, Iowa, the son of James Clifford "J.C." and Harriet Christine (Johnson) Richardson. Dean passed away in Seward, Nebraska on October 12, 2013 at the age of 75 years, 11 months, 5 days. Dean moved with his family at a young age to Pender, Nebraska and he was a 1955 graduate of Pender High School. Dean was united in marriage to his high school classmate, Jeanette Faye Ramspott on August 18, 1957 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Pender; the same church where Dean had also been baptized and confirmed. Their marriage was blessed with four children. Dean was employed with Nebraska Public Power District from January 2, 1957 through April 30, 1993, when he retired. Dean was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Seward. He was a former member of the York Rotary Club and was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow and was named Outstanding District Foreign Exchange Chairman. They hosted four Rotary exchange students in their home. Dean was named Yorkfest King in 1998. He enjoyed cars, embroidery, cards, dominoes, country music and working with their rental properties and could strike up a conversation with everyone he met. Dean is preceded in death by his parents, J.C. and Harriet Richardson; son, David Richardson; great-grandson, Jaxson Beins; step grandson, Jace Payne; brother, Jim Richardson and brothers-in-law, Elroy Roling and Milton Ballard. Survivors left to cherish Dean's memory include his wife, Jeanette Richardson, York; children, Sheila Beins, Seward, Pamela Richardson, Volin, SD and friend, Gary Truman, Wayne (Bonnie) Richardson, York; daughter-in-law, Mary Richardson, Murdock, KS; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Jon and Jenny Beins and Trevyn, Lincoln, Mike and Jamie Beins and Noah, Lincoln, Jimi and Ashley Richardson and Ava and Jayli, Cheney, KS, Brittany and Ryan Smith and Brileigh, Wichita, KS, Bobbie Reetz, Volin, SD and friend, Tyler Reaney; sister, Carol Ballard, Pender; sister-in-law, Carol Richardson, Omaha; nieces and nephews; step-grandchildren, Colby, Kelsey, Kirby, Gabe, Seth and Dana Hobbs, Jessica Pagel; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bill and Linda Ramspott, Alden, IA, Marge Roling, Kingsley, IA and a host of friends.
