Rhoda Anna Dorothea Bredow was born October 10, 1921 on the family farm north of Tamora, Nebraska, the daughter of Herman and Minna "Minnie" (Hartman) Bredow. Rhoda was raised and lived nearly her entire life on the farm. She was baptized November 13, 1921 and confirmed on May 13, 1934, both at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church at Marysville, now Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. Rhoda attended public school district No. 66 and parochial school at Zion Lutheran, Marysville. She graduated from Tamora High School in 1939 in a class of five girls. Rhoda was an employee and officer of the Cattle National Bank and Trust Company of Seward for 61 years and served as a member of the Board of Directors. She was active in the National Association of Bank Women and served two years as State President. Other memberships included the Seward Chamber of Commerce where she was on the Board of Directors for six years, The Concordia Foundation and the Foundation for Memorial Health Care Systems. Rhoda was a lifetime member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, being involved in the youth group and singing in the choir for many years. Rhoda organized the first Sunday School program, served as Financial Secretary, a member of Altar Guild, the Stewardship Board, was a greeter, and was the chairperson of the 125th Anniversary Celebration for Our Redeemer Church, in 1995. Rhoda had been a resident of Ridgewood Care Center in Seward since 2015. She passed away on July 12, 2016 at the age of 94 years, 9 months, 3 days. Preceding Rhoda were her parents, Herman and Minnie Bredow and an infant brother, Mervin Herman Bredow in 1928.
Survivors cherishing Rhoda's memory include her cousins and their families; many friends and clients through her years at Cattle National Bank and Trust; church and community friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Rhoda.
