Richard A. Gehle was born on May 23, 1929, in Pleasant Dale, Nebraska to Henry Fredrick and Marie (Sieck) Gehle and passed away on August 19, 2020 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 91 years, 2 months and 27 days. Richard was baptized on June 9, 1929 and confirmed on May 23, 1943, both at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward.

Richard grew up on the family farm where he farmed with his Dad. In his younger years they raised cattle for many years and he continued to farm up into his 80s. On October 14, 1986, Richard married Roma Pauline Popham at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward. He met Roma at a singles group and they soon began writing letters to each other. He drove to Florence, South Dakota to meet Roma face to face and it wasn't too long before they were married. Roma took care of the house and garden while Richard kept busy farming. He was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Marie Gehle.

He is survived by his wife, Roma, Pleasant Dale; sister-in-law, Carol Oppermann, Camel Port, Wisconsin; brother-in-law, Jim Popham and wife Cleta, Carlson, Nevada; cousins and a host of neighbors and friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Richard.
