Rickey Jay Kilzer was born September, 6, 1950, the first baby born in the new Seward Memorial Hospital to Willard George and Audrey Mae (Graham) Kilzer and passed away on February 3, 2013 in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 62 years, 4 months, and 28 days. Rick attended Oak Grove (District 13), District 12 and Staplehurst Public Grade schools; he graduated from Seward High School in 1968 where during his senior year he was president of the Student Council. Rick was a member of Triangle Fraternity at the University of Nebraska where he graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering in December of 1972. Rick started his professional career with Bendix Corporation in Kansas City, Missouri and retired from Honeywell Incorporated (formerly Bendix and Allied Signal) in 2001 and continued to consult with Sandia National Laboratories. Rick was an avid fisherman, going to Canada, backpacking to lakes in Wyoming, deep sea fishing off the west coast and often spending the month of April at Lake of the Ozarks fishing for crappie. He enjoyed all sports, participating in a variety of intramural sports like volleyball and softball. Rick was an enthusiastic fan of Husker sports and Royals baseball, particularly during the George Brett years, attending the 1985 World Series Championship game in St. Louis where the Royals won. He worked for the Royals Organization for several years after leaving Honeywell. In Rick's retirement he moved to Lake Winnebago, Missouri where he spent many hours on the lake in his boat, with his dog Max. Rick was a generous and charitable man, donating to the United Way, Muscular Dystrophy, and Juvenile Diabetes Foundation among other charities. Rick was preceded in death by his father, Willard Kilzer in 2013 and his brother, Bruce Kilzer in 2002. Survivors include his mother, Audrey , of Seward, NE; his sisters and brother-in-law, Jolene and Walt Catlett of North Platte, NE and Laurie Kilzer of Lincoln, NE; nieces and nephews, Cara and Eric Putman, Lafayette, IN, Janna and Matt Ryan, Josh and Sarah Catlett, Joel and Michele Catlett, all of North Platte, NE, Beth and Matt Hraban of Lutz, FL, Julie and Troy Morris, Grand Island, NE and Jill and Scott Henn, Lincoln, NE; 23 great nieces and nephews; aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends.
