Obituary

Robert Dale Bauer was born on October 22, 1931, in Seward, NE; to Fred George and Louise Christine (Willers) Bauer and passed away on April 27, 2013, in Seward at the age of 81 years, 6 months and 5 days. Bob grew up in Seward where he attended school and graduated in the Seward High School class of 1950. He enlisted into the United States Army on February 26, 1952, in Omaha, Nebraska and was stationed most of his service time in Alaska. He was honorably discharged on January 19, 1954, at Fort Riley, Kansas. Upon his discharge, Bob returned to Seward. On April 24, 1955, Bob married Beryl R. Glock in Rising City, NE. The couple lived in Seward for a short time before moving to the home place. Bob worked at the Seward County shop where he was a foreman with diesel mechanics, he also worked at his excavating business and farmed while raising cattle. Bob and Beryl ran the excavating business for 17 years before selling the business in 1977. Bob true passion in life was farming and cattle. In the earlier years of the cattle operation he raised feeder cattle and eventually it become a cow/calf operation. He loved fixing things whether it needed welding or just repaired, he always had just the right tool. Bob also enjoyed helping his neighbors who where in need. He was always cheerful and had a positive attitude. Bob was a lifelong member of Friedens United Church of Christ. Bob is survived by his children and their spouses, Steve and Carlene Bauer of Seward, NE; Karen and Mark Werner of Waco, NE; four granddaughters, Tonya Graves, Katherine Bauer and her fiancé David Fox, Christine Bauer, and Megan Werner. two great grandchildren, Jaren Meyers and Brigham Werner, sister and brother-in-law, Joan and George Allen of Lexington, NE; sister-in-law, Betty Mittendorf of Ralston, NE; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Andrew and Beverly Glock of Rising City, NE; nieces, nephews and other relatives and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Beryl in 2004, his parents and mother and father-in-law, Frank and Martha Glock.
