Robert Frank Elwell, the son of Robert Burns and Shirley Mae (Vennum) Elwell was born October 28, 1955 in Lincoln, Nebraska and passed away, with his family by his side, on January 5, 2017 in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 61 years, 2 months, and 8 days. Bob attended Saratoga Elementary School, was a 1974 graduate of Lincoln Southeast High School and earned his Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, in 1978.   Bob was a member of the UNL Marching Band where he was proud to say, "the tuba boys took care of the flag corps girls". During his middle school years, Bob lied about his age so he could begin working at Pershing Auditorium; during high school and college Bob worked at Russ's IGA. Bob was united in marriage to Nancy Langner on October 4, 1986 at Christ Lutheran Church in Lincoln. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Ashley and Bobby. Bob was employed with the Correctional Center as a counselor for 13 years. After moving to Seward, Bob was the owner of The Well Bar and later Daubs in Staplehurst. Bob was a farmer; he loved the land and his hobbies were hunting and fishing. Bob was devoted to education and served as a substitute teacher, fulfilling long term sub positions in David City, Seward, Dorchester and other locations and most recently serving as a long term sub for Milford Public Schools. Bob was proud of his tenure serving as a coach for the Seward High School Football team. Bob's commitment to Seward was intense; he served as the Mayor of Seward for many years, as a Seward County Commissioner and was Santa for the children of the area. Bob was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. According to his friends and family, Bob was, "The Most Interesting Man in the World".

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Shirley and his father-in-law, Jim Langner.
