Robert Allen Green was born December 5, 1923 in Seward, Nebraska to Langdon Dewey and Ruth Elizabeth (Reynolds) Green and passed away in Lincoln, Nebraska on October 18, 2008 at the age of 84 years, 10 months, 13 days. He attended the Seward Public Schools and graduated in May of 1941. He attended Concordia University for 2 years and then entered the U.S. Army in 1943 during World War II. Much of his time was spent at the Area Station Hospital in Pasadena, CA. From there he entered Washington University in St. Louis, MO. Upon his discharge from the service he returned to Nebraska and attended the University of Nebraska graduating from the College of Dentistry in 1948. On March 29, 1947, Bob was united in marriage to Nancy Jane Baker in Lincoln, Nebraska. They moved to Seward in 1948 where Dr. Green began his dental practice. Later he entered the Air Corps during the Korean War and was stationed at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha. Eventually he returned to Seward and built the Seward Dental Clinic at 111 North Third Street. He continued there until his retirement in 1997. Dr. Green was a member of Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity, St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Seward, the American Dental Association, Nebraska Dental Association, The Country Club of Lincoln and a life member of American Legion Post No. 33 - Seward. He served on the governing Board of Dental Practices and the Board of Dental Examiners for the five state area. He also taught at the University of Nebraska. Dr. Green was preceded in death by his parents, Langdon D. and Ruth E. Green; his wife of 58 years, Nancy J. Green in 2005; and his daughter, Barbara Steinheider. He is survived by his son, Langdon P.Paul Green, Seward; four grandchildren, Rebecca Green, Matthew Green, Christopher Steinheider, Jessa Steinheider; sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Robert Melin, Stillwater, MN; sister-in-law, Betty McDermott, Kansas City, MO; one niece, Susan and two nephews, Rick and Alan; son-in-law, David R. Steinheider, Lincoln; daughter-in-law, Mary Green, Omaha and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Bob. |
