Robert Patrick Havlovic was born on March 17, 1950, in David City, Nebraska to John and Lucille (Samek) Havlovic and passed away on July 10, 2018, in David City at the age of 68 years, 3 months and 23 days. Bob grew up on the family farm west of Brainard where he attended Holy Trinity School and graduated from Aquinas High School with the Class of 1968. He then enlisted into the Nebraska National Guard in 1970 and was discharged in 1976.
On June 28, 1975, he was united in marriage to Charlene Kay Kadavy at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Brainard, Nebraska. Bob worked at Havlovic Construction for a couple of years and later began working at SCS (NRCS) where he was a soil conservation technician for 25+ years. He continued staking terraces privately up to the time of his death. Bob and Charlene owned and operated a Christmas tree farm known as Holiday Pines for 25 years. He was a past member of the Brainard Volunteer Fire Department. He is a member of St. Francis Catholic Church where he served as a lector. He loved raising Christmas trees and was a past member of the Nebraska Christmas Tree Growers Association. Bob loved spending time at the farm and enjoyed fishing and hunting. Bob and Charlene enjoyed traveling, but loved driving down country roads and exploring small towns. They also loved playing board games, especially Scrabble in the winter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jack and Maurice Havlovic; sister, Edna, sisters-in-law, Judy Kabourek and Laurie Kadavy.
Bob is survived by his wife of 43 years, Charlene; sisters, Mary Jane and husband Ed Kacirek, Olathe, KS, Clare and husband Carl Schnase, Sparks, NV, Monica and husband Ron Lyons, David City; special nephew, Kevin and wife Denise Havlovic, David City; sisters-in-law, Kathy and husband Darrell Kubik, Lincoln, Mary Jo and husband Dale Buhl, Lindsay; brothers-in-law, Ernie Kabourek of Brainard, Dan Kadavy, Dwight; numerous nieces and nephews. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Bob.
