Roger John Davis was born on December 8, 1933, at home on the family farm near Seward, NE; to Walter Ernest and Ruth Louise (Strinz) Davis and passed away on October 9, 2014, in Lincoln, NE; at the age of 80 years, 10 months and 1 day. Roger grew up in the Seward area where he attended District #40 country school. Roger farmed the family place until his retirement in 1998, when he moved to Seward. He enjoyed collecting John Deere toy tractors, attending Husker Harvest Days, and the Camp Creek Threshers in Waverly, NE. Roger's joy in life was farming and spending time with his nieces and nephews. He was a lifelong member of the Seward United Methodist Church where he served on the trustees. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister-in-law Walter R. "Sonny" and Shirley Davis and brother-in-law, Don Beierbach. He is survived by his brother, Everett and wife Andrea of Chubbuck, ID; sister, Dolores Beierbach of Greeley, CO; nieces and nephews, Yvonne Dahl and husband Ron of Lincoln, NE; Bret and wife Kim Davis of Raymond, NE; Scott and wife Nancy Davis of Mount Laurel, N.J.; Charise Davis of Chesterfield, VA; Christopher Davis of San Francisco, CA; Charles and wife Liz Davis of Colorado Springs, CO; and Patricia Frick of Greeley, CO; as well as numerous great nieces and great nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Hospital C/O Zabka Funeral Home, 410 Jackson Ave. Seward, NE; 68434. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 13, 2014, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Zabka Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2014, at the Seward United Methodist Church with Pastor Dale Lambert officiating. Burial will follow at Seward Cemetery.
