Roger Carl Luebbe was born October 10, 1941 in Seward, Nebraska to Paul and Florence (Ferguson) Luebbe. He graduated from Beaver Crossing High School in 1959 and the University of Nebraska in 1963 with a degree in Agronomy. Roger served in the Air National Guard from 1963-1969. Roger and Joan (Phipps) were united in marriage on July 30, 1966 in Wray, Colorado, and lived and farmed in the Goehner, Nebraska area. To this union three children were born: Jana, Jeff, Jill.

Roger was very active in the farming community, serving in various local agricultural organizations such as the United Farmers Cooperative, Seward County Groundwater District, 4-H, among others, and was also a member of the Goehner Volunteer Fire Department for forty years, and served as treasurer. Roger was a member and served as an elder and treasurer at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Goehner.

Roger had a keen sense of humor, culminating in his impression of Carnac The Magnificent - a skill he would display at countless class reunions, fundraisers and family gatherings. He never forgot the lessons of his entomology and chemistry classes, being able to recite insect scientific terminology and facts about the periodic table at the drop of a hat. Roger enjoyed traveling both inside and outside of the borders of this great country, and was fiercely patriotic. But Roger's favorite way of spending time was with family and friends.

Roger passed away on April 29, 2017 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 75 years, 6 months, 19 days. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 50 years, Joan Luebbe of Goehner; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marian and Charles Fricke of Papillion, Joyce and Dan Coogan of Omaha; children and spouses: Jana and John Hughes of Seward, Jeff and Melissa Luebbe of rural Goehner, Jill and David Owens of Littleton, Colorado; 11 grandchildren:  Lena, Anna, Hank Hughes, Taylor Wolter, Lawson, Layne, Layla Luebbe, Oliver, Foster, Mercer, Miller Owens; nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Roger is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Florence Luebbe.

Roger's funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 3 at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward. Memorials may be directed to the Luebbe Family for Mound Prairie Cemetery improvements. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 2, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Goehner, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.; family will be present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
