Obituary

Roger Fredrick Schroeder was born on November 23, 1946, in Lincoln, Nebraska to Elmer and Emaleen (Boldebuck) Schroeder and passed away on January 4, 2018 in Staplehurst, Nebraska at the age of 71 years, 1 month, 14 days. Roger was baptized on December 15, 1946, and was confirmed on March 26, 1961, both at the United Church of Christ, Seward. Roger grew up in Garland where he attended country school District 51. The family moved to Staplehurst in 1956, where he attended District 14 and was a graduate of Seward High School Class of 1965. After high school Roger enlisted into the U.S. Army on February 8, 1966, where he served two tours during the Vietnam War before being honorably discharged on February 7, 1969.

On April 14, 1973, Roger was united in marriage to Wendy Lou Latare at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Columbus. Roger worked at Beckler Implement, the Sheriff Department and cut meat for Hinky Dinky as well. He later worked for Stauffer Farms for many years. Roger loved being with his family and friends and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He had a love for animals and raised horses, miniature horses, goats, guineas and chickens. He also enjoyed gardening and cooking.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Emaleen Schroeder; wife, Wendy in 2009; two brothers, Dean in 2003 and Gerald in 2017.

Survivors include his siblings and spouses: Sharon and Joe Mumaugh, Seward, David and Theresa Schroeder, Garland, Sandra Schroeder, Seward, Dennis and Christee Schroeder, Seward, Lisa and Michael Decker, Staplehurst; sister-in-law, Sally Keating, Columbus; 18 nieces and nephews; numerous great nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
