Ronald Fossoy Dorffler was born November 2, 1921 in Waupaca, Wisconsin to Viggo Georg and Martha Christina (Schneekloth) Dorffler and passed away in Lincoln, Nebraska on January 12, 2006 at the age of 84 years, 2 months, 10 days. Ronald moved with his family to Nebraska at the age of 3 months; he was raised in the Beaver Crossing and Friend area and was a 1940 graduate of Beaver Crossing High School. On August 26, 1944, Ronald was married to Glema Mae Hohnbaum at Beaver Crossing. This marriage was blessed with two children, Roger and Connie. Ronald served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater. He served as a tailgunner on the B-24 Liberator and a mechanic. After his honorable discharge from the service he worked for the Havelock Shops in Lincoln for a few months and then in 1946, moved back to Beaver Crossing where he worked as a mechanic at Christian Service Station until 1981. He worked for Seward County for 3 years, retiring in 1984. In 1997, Ronald and Glema moved to Lincoln. Ronald was a member of the Beaver Crossing United Methodist Church and American Legion Holmes Post No. 178 Beaver Crossing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Viggo and Martha Dorffler; two infant sisters; his brother, Clifford Dorffler and his son, Roger Dorffler. Ronald is survived by his wife, Glema Dorffler, Lincoln; daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Gary Knoble, Lincoln; daughter-in-law, Sue Dorffler, Lincoln; granddaughters and spouses, Shannon and Matthew Simmons, Davey; Sandra and Bronson Howard, Speed, IN, Sarah and Bill McCarter, Seward, Rebecca Dorffler, Speed, IN, Stephanie Brennan, Lincoln, and Theresa Dorffler, Oklahoma City, OK; four great grandsons and four great granddaughters; sister-in-law, Irene Dorffler, Nashville, TN; nieces and nephews and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Ronald. |
