Obituary

Ronald Gene Odell, 80, was born in Seward, Nebraska on September 3, 1944, to John Robert Odell and Nellie Marie (Kilzer) Odell and passed away on Dec. 1, 2024, in Kingman, Arizona. Ron spent his childhood in Seward, Nebraska and graduated from Seward High School in 1962.

Ron had several jobs as a teenager. He was a pinsetter at Seward Bowl, worked at Dave Hall's gas station on Highway 34, and would ride his bicycle to Neal Sell's farm to help milk cows before school. John Odell, his dad, writes in the family history book, "This is where Ron got the nickname 'RUBS' from wearing rubber boots to milk the cows."

In 1965, Ron joined the United States Marines, spending 13 months in Vietnam. He returned to the United States where he finished his four-year tour of duty at the Marine Corps Air Station in Yuma, Arizona. While there, he met Margie Ann McCugh, and they were married on December 2, 1966, in Winterhaven, California. They lived in Palm Desert, California, and following retirement, in Kingman, Arizona. Ron and Margie raised three children: Patricia, John, and Bryson.

Ron worked as a Union mason's tender and was proud to have worked on several celebrities' homes in California. He also took flight training and soloed in a small aircraft. Ron had many interests and hobbies over the years, including photography, woodworking, and cruising the sand dunes as a jeep enthusiast. He also shared his love of Southern California as a tour guide.

Ron was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Marine; grandson, Devin Marine; parents, John and Nellie Odell; brothers, Dennis, John (Dick), and Bill Odell; sisters, Betty Shook and Becky Sampson; and parents-in-law, Joseph and Ilene McCugh.

Ron is survived by his wife, Margie Odell; sons, John and Bryson; brother, Tom (Becky) Odell; sisters-in-law, Sharon Odell, Karen Odell, and Debra Odell; brothers-in-law, Harold McCugh and Tom (Stella) Sampson; several cousins, nieces, nephews, and his church family.

May his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.

As per Ron's request, no funeral or memorial service will be held.
