Rose Mary Wood was born November 23, 1918 on a farm northwest of Staplehurst, Nebraska to Paul Bissell and Mary Marie (Reinmiller) Wood and passed away in Seward, Nebraska on January 21, 2007 at the age of 88 years, 1 month, 28 days. Rose Mary attended Staplehurst High School and was a 1939 graduate of Seward High School. She was also a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a Bachelor of Art Degree in Home Economics and Science. She later received her Masters Degree in Educational Psychology and Administration. Rose Mary taught in Harvard, Scotia, Burwell and Kimball High Schools in Nebraska. She joined the Government Education System and taught Eskimo students at several high schools in Alaska. She later taught Indian students in high schools in Arizona and Oklahoma. She sponsored many Future Homemakers of America Clubs and enjoyed driving students to state conventions. Rose Mary was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She traveled widely for nearly 40 years; through Europe a number of times, the Scandinavian countries, Greenland and Iceland, Asia, South America and Australia and many of the islands in the South Pacific. Rose Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Mary Wood; her sister, Lorene Wood; her brothers and sister-in-law, Irving and Rosie Wood, Alvin Wood, and Lawrence Wood. She is survived by her niece and nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Rose Mary. |
