Ruby Rosalie (Vrana) Bowker, a Christian Believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, went home to be with the Lord on September 1, 2007, at the age of 74 years, 8 months, 10 days. Ruby was born December 22, 1932 at Malmo, Nebraska to Joe and Amelia (Thege) Vrana. She grew up on a farm near Malmo; Ruby graduated from Wahoo High School and Nebraska Wesleyan University where she was an active member in Delta Zeta Sorority. Ruby majored in music and later taught vocal music in Aurora Schools and Lincoln Christian School. Following graduation from college in 1956, she married Larry Abker and two sons were born to this marriage, Kurtis and Steven. The marriage lasted 10 years. In 1969, Ruby married her soul-mate, Roger Bowker. Ruby managed the office for many years at Production Sales Company, an Ag Grain system business, owned by the Bowkers. She contributed significantly to the success of this venture, helping to build it into a successful Ag related business doing business nationally and internationally. Ruby is survived by her husband, Roger Bowker of Seward; children and spouses, Vince Bowker of Omaha, Rob and Reva Bowker of Ceresco, Kurt Abker of Lincoln, Steve and Shelly Abker of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Sue and Dan Christensen of Holdrege, Norma Sheldon of South Bend, Indiana; 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; her sister and brother-in-law, JoAnn and Dr. Ronald Lyss of Moline, Illinois. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Mildred Gustafson. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Ruby. |
