Russell Nelson Endicott, Jr. was born on a farm near Dorchester, Nebraska to Russell Nelson Endicott, Sr. and Estella F. (Rice) Endicott and passed away on Oct 26, 2006 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 82 years, 9 months, 21 days. Russ attended school through the 5th grade in Milford and moved with his family to Lincoln where he was a 1941 graduate of Lincoln High School. Russ served his country in the U.S. Navy during WW II. On September 14, 1946 he was united in marriage to Betty Lee Courtney in St. Francis, Kansas. This marriage was blessed with five children, Donald, Linda, Richard, Judy, Kelly. The Endicott family moved to Seward in 1954. Russ was the owner of Doc's IGA, Russ's ShurSave and Pac N Save all in Seward. Russ was a 50- year member of the United Methodist Church; other memberships included Oliver Lodge No. 38 A.F. & A.M., Sesostris Shrine, Seward Volunteer Fire Department, VFW Post No. 4755-Seward, American Legion. He was formerly active with the Seward Rotary Club, Board of Directors of United A.G., Seward Chamber of Commerce, Seward Bowling Hall of Fame; he served on the Seward City Council for 9 years, Seward Country Club, Concordia University Booster; Recipient of the Seward Area Community Service Award; Admiral of the Great Navy of the State of Nebraska; Block head award winner; proud member of the E.L.K. Club and the M.E.L.D. Club and an avid sports fan. Russ was preceded in death by his parents, Russell N., Sr. and Estella F. Endicott, brother, Robert Endicott, grandson, Charles Endicott, granddaughter, Courtney Endicott. Russ is survived by his wife, Betty Endicott of Seward, sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Nancy Endicott of Wayne, , Richard and Connie Endicott of Seward, daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Steve Schmidt of Malcolm, Judy and Jim Sommerfeld of Seward, Kelly and Jim Dingwell of Lincoln, 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James and Willie Courtney of Laird, CO, sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Janice and Robert Yates, Lincoln,Fern Courtney, Denver, CO; cousins and a host of friends.
