Ruth Katherine Johnson Suhr was born March 19, 1915 near Friend, Nebraska to John and Nellie (Banke) Eurich and passed away in Seward, Nebraska on May 12, 2006 at the age of 91 years, 1 month, 24 days. Pastor George Beck baptized her on June 6, 1915 with witnesses being the members of the German Methodist Congregation south of Friend, Nebraska. She attended rural elementary school District No. 26 and was a 1932 graduate of Friend High School. On October 21, 1933, Ruth was united in marriage to Herman Johnson, Sr.. They lived on farms in Seward County, moving to the one southwest of Staplehurst in 1942, which was her home until November of 2001 when she moved into Seward. Herman and their son, Merle died in an accident on January 2, 1953. Ruth was united in married to Henry John Suhr on August 16, 1955 in Staplehurst. Ruth was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Goehner and Lutheran Womens Missionary League.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, John and Nellie Eurich; her husbands, Herman Johnson, Sr. and Henry J. Suhr; her son, Merle Johnson; three sisters, Leona Eurich, Irene Gifford and Freda Keller; four brothers, Albert, Lyman, Conrad and Franklin Eurich and one grandson, Stephen Marquardt.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lucille and Leonard Marquardt of Tinley Park, IL; sons and daughters-in-law, Herman Johnson, Jr. of Seward, Norman and Marilyn Johnson of York, Maurice and Cheri Johnson of Seward; stepson and wife, Alfred and Eunice Suhr of Seward; eight grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters, Esther Deterding of Exeter, Clara Witter of Crete, Lena Burkhart of Crete, Lillian Bowers of Topeka, KS; sisters-in-law, Irene Eurich of Friend, Alma Finke of Cordova, Joy Matejka of Milligan, Ula Stephens of Lincoln; brother-in-law, John Suhr of Lincoln; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
