Ruth Elizabeth (Dixon) Wehrs was born September 18, 1921 in Seward, Nebraska to Joe Sr. and Elizabeth (Hecox) Dixon and passed away on August 24, 2012 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 90 years, 11 months, 6 days. Ruth attended country school and was a 1939 graduate of Seward High School; she attended Peru State College and taught school for a period of time. On June 1, 1945, Ruth was united in marriage to Richard Miller Wehrs at her parents' home north of Seward. Their marriage was blessed with two sons, Duane and George. Ruth was a secretary for the Milford School and later for the Seward Schools. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. Ruth was a member of the Seward United Methodist Church and PEO Chapter CC of Seward; she was a former member of Blue River Eastern Star in Milford. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Joe, Sr. and Elizabeth Dixon; her brother, Joe Dixon, Jr.; and two sisters, Bonalyn Jeary and Evelyn Russnogle. Ruth is survived by her husband, Richard "Dick" Wehrs, Seward; sons and daughters-in-law, Duane and Judy Wehrs, Temecula, California and George and Ellen Wehrs, Stockton, California; two grandchildren, Anthony Wehrs and Elizabeth Wehrs; two step grandchildren, Greg and Heidi Trueblood, Christopher and Lanessa Trueblood; two great-grandchildren, Dauntee Trueblood and Caitlyn Trueblood; nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
