Obituary

Sandra Mae Ritchie was born on June 5, 1945, in Seward, to Charles Edward and Tressie B. (Mull) Foster and passed away on July 25, 2016, in Lincoln at the age of 71 years, one month and 20 days. Sandy grew up in the Beaver Crossing and Friend area where she attended school and graduated with the class of 1963. She then attended Reece and Sybil Beauty College in Lincoln. Sandy owned her own beauty salon for 15 years in Crete; part of that time having the salon in her home.

On November 21, 1975, Sandy married Stephen Ritchie in Lincoln. The couple made their home in the Crete area. In 1997, Sandy was the founder and operator of Grandma's Child Care Center in Crete until she retired in 2010. Sandy enjoyed flowers, working in her garden, sewing, playing the piano, cooking and of course spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her first great grandchild was born in 2015 and even though it was difficult for her to communicate, she would point at the pictures. It was a huge deal for her. Sandy was a member of the Crete Lions Club, Grace United Methodist Church, and the Crete Band Parents in the 1990's.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Edward and Tressie B. Foster, and her brother Stanley.

Survivors include her husband, Steve Ritchie of Crete, five daughters, Tina Rockenbach and husband John of Crete, Jody Brauer and husband Troy of Crete, Deanna Henke of Lincoln, Schawn Kellogg and husband Eric of Denver, CO; and Shani Jones and husband Bob of Denver, CO; 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 1, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church in Crete. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 1, 2016, at Grace United Methodist Church with Dr. Wayne Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Crete, NE. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sandy Ritchie family for future designations.
