Michelle Lyn "Shelly" Kriz was born on March 19, 1975, in Omaha, NE; to David and Lynette (Row) Vyhlidal and passed away on December 14, 2012 in David City, NE; at the age of 37 years, 8 months and 25 days. Shelly grew up in Omaha where she attended and graduated from Northwest High School with the class of 1993. She went on to attend the University of Nebraska Kearney, it was there that she was first diagnosed with her first bout with cancer. After her treatments and beating the cancer she attended Southeast Community College in Lincoln and then finished her degree at Doane College Lincoln Campus, graduating in 2002. Shelly married Terry Kriz on October 16, 2004, in her parents back yard in Elkhorn. The couple made their home on the family farm near Brainard, NE. Shelly began working for Region V in David City shortly after their marriage. Her passion in life was her family, children including being foster parents which they cared for 12 children over the years, and Relay for Life. Not only was she a mother, but in the Relay community she was a hero. Shelly and Terry enjoyed traveling to Rome, going on cruises and also going to Alaska. She loved movie night with the kids and loved photography and music with words. Shelly had a heart of gold for children and those who were mentally challenged. Shelly is survived by her husband Terry; children, Olivia, Linda, Millie, Kayden, Devin and Deloke, her parents, David and Lynette Vyhlidal of Elkhorn, NE; parents-in-law, Dean and Lynelle Kriz of Brainard, NE; brother Scott and Amy Vyhlidal of Elkhorn, NE; and their sons, Zac, Bailey, Kyle and Jacob, brother-in-law, Tim and Chastity Kriz of Lincoln, NE; and their sons, Trenton, Gage and Jaxon, sisters-in-law, Wendolyn Kriz of Omaha, NE; and Ashley Kriz of Lincoln, NE; grandmothers Adeline Vyhlidal and Ardyce Row both of Fremont, NE. Shelly was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Gerald Row and John Vyhlidal. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Shelly.
