Shirley Jean Greiner was born on April 9, 1926, in McLean, NE; to Louis and Mary (Reimer) Hoeppner and passed away on April 14, 2015, in Seward, NE; at the age of 89 years and 5 days. Shirley grew up in Osmond, NE and graduated from Osmond High School with the class of 1943. On June 20, 1944, she married Alfred Nicholas Greiner at St. Frances De Chantal Catholic Church in Randolph, NE. Alfred entered the U.S. Army in August 1944, and while he was in basic training Shirley went to Fort Sill in Lawton, OK; to be with him. While she was there she worked as a waitress in a cafe. After Alfred went overseas Shirley moved to Sioux City where she worked in an egg plant; she later worked at a trigger factory in Sergeant Bluff, IA. Upon Alfred return from military service the couple moved back to Randolph where they farmed. The couple moved into Randolph in 1977, and they retired from farming in 1986. In March of 2008, they moved to Heartland Park Retirement Community in Seward. She was a long time member of St. Frances De Chantal Catholic Church where she was active in many circles. She was also a member of Christian Mothers and was a hospice volunteer. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband Alfred in 2009; two sons, Robert and Michael Greiner; son-in-law, Randy Kudera; grandchildren Christine Greiner, David Kudera and Brian Greiner; seven sisters and five brothers. Shirley is survived by her children; Douglas Greiner and wife Betty of Randolph, NE; Steven Greiner and wife Deb of St. Joseph, MO; Daniel Greiner and wife Cheryll of Seward, NE; Nancy Kudera of Osmond, NE; brother, Rod Hoeppner of Bellwood, NE; and sister-in-law, Lola Martindale of Minneapolis, MN; 19 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.
