Shirley Ann Kotil was born on January 30, 1929, in Milford, Nebraska to Elmer and Stella (Dainton) Danekas and passed away on November 20, 2023, in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 94 years, 9 months and 21 days. Shirley was baptized on October 30, 1930, at Friedens Parsonage in Milford and later confirmed at West Blue.
Shirley attended rural Milford School District 92 and graduated from Dorchester High School with the Class of 1946. She lived in Milford for a few years and later moved to Seward for the next 41 years. Shirley was a cook in the school kitchen, then later became a teacher's aide at Seward High School. She was united in marriage to Orland Kotil on October 3, 1948, in Seward, Nebraska and to this marriage four children were born: Danny, Douglas, Annie, and Karla. The couple later divorced in 1981. She moved to York, Nebraska in 1995 until returning to Seward. Shirley loved to read and found great joy in cooking and baking. She was a wonderful seamstress and enjoyed sewing as well.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; daughter-in-law, Beverly Kotil; grandson, Jesse Adamek; great-granddaughter, Aliyana Senff; sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Ron Vosta; brothers-in-law, Walt Riley and Lynn Boller.
Survivors cherishing her memory include her children, Danny Kotil, Seward, Doug (Vikki) Kotil, Lincoln, Annie (Craig) Adamek, Seward, Karla (Dean) Senff, Hampton; grandchildren, Jared Kotil, Lincoln, Zeb (Ashley) Kotil, Seward, Amber (Jeromy) Rowse, Lincoln, Drew (Carrie) Kotil, Martell, Mark (Rachel) Senff, Grand Island, Nikkol (Nicholas) Bosak, Lincoln; 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Gerry Boller, Jane Riley, Don (Ann) Danekas, Doyle (Judy) Danekas; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
