Stella Marie (Cook) Dargeloh was born September 29, 1953 in Greeley, Nebraska to Leo Linus and Geraldine Marie (Franssen) Cook. Stella died peacefully with her family at her side on Sunday, August 10, 2008, at the age of 54 years, 10 months, 11 days after a long battle with ovarian cancer. Stella was raised with her 11 brothers and sisters. She was a 1971 graduate of St. Ann's High School in Lexington, Nebraska and a 1979 graduate of Bryan School of Nursing in Lincoln. Stella was a Veteran of the U.S. Army; she was the lead singer of the traveling Army band and retired with the rank of 1st Lieutenant .
Stella touched innumerable lives as a registered nurse at such places as the Regional Center, the VA Hospital, State of Nebraska Department of Health as a Licensed Complaint Investigator/Consultant and the State of Nebraska Department of Corrections as the Director of Nursing. Stella was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Milford.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Louise Cook and her father-in-law, Richard W. Dargeloh. Stella is survived by her husband, Daniel Dargeloh of Milford; her daughters and sons-in-law, Gina and Brian Wiechman of Lincoln, Mindy Mundt of Rochester, New York, Jessie and Dan Schweitzer of Milford, Tracy Dargeloh of Milford; sons, Nathan Dargeloh of Milford, Corey Dargeloh of Milford, Maxwell Mundt of Milford, Lucas Dargeloh of Milford; grandchildren, Brittany and Gavin Wiechman, Boen Schweitzer; her parents, Leo and Geraldine Cook of Lexington; brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank and Sandy Cook of Baker City, OR, Garry Cook of Grand Island, Larry Cook of Oklahoma, Charlie Cook of Baker City, OR, Mike and Julie Cook of Boise, ID, David and Chris Cook of Greenwood, Paul Cook and Chad Smith of LaMesa, CA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Peggy and Jim Dancer of Cameron, MO, Barb and Dennis Barnhill of Lincoln, Amy and Timmy Bohannon of Rossville, TN; mother-in-law, Lois Dargeloh of Seward; many aunts, uncles, cousins; nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
