Stephen Paul Dierberger was born November 17, 1951 in O'Neill, Nebraska, the son of Gale Ward and Lureta Jean (Ogden) Dierberger and passed away on April 19, 2017 in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 65 years, 5 months, 2 days. Stephen grew up in the Seward and Columbus areas. He was active in Boy Scouts and earned the Eagle Scout award. Stephen was a 1970 graduate of Columbus High School and attended the University of Nebraska where he was a member of Theta Xi Fraternity. Stephen was united in marriage to Susan Laurel Arbaugh on September 25, 1976 in Fremont, Nebraska. Their marriage was blessed with twin daughters, Sarah and Elizabeth. They lived in Spokane, Washington for a year and then came back to Nebraska where Stephen worked for Commonwealth Electric. With Commonwealth he was transferred to Georgetown, Connecticut, then to Carmel, Indiana, back to Nebraska, then to Vacaville, California for three years and back to Lincoln. In 1992-1993 they built and moved to their current home near Bee, Nebraska. In 1990, Stephen began his own business, Garland Estimating Company, as a commercial electrical estimator. Stephen was a member of the Seward County Zoning Commission and a 20 year volunteer with the Garland Volunteer Fire Department.
Stephen was preceded in death by his father, Gale Dierberger.
Survivors cherishing Stephen's life and memory include his wife, Sue Dierberger of Bee; daughters, Sarah Dierberger of Lincoln and Elizabeth Dierberger of Lincoln and partner, Shawn Delvaux ; grandson, Ryan Delvaux, Lincoln; mother, Lureta Dierberger of Columbus; brother and sister-in-law, Scott and Lynn Dierberger of Auburn; sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Michael Streck of West Des Moines, Iowa and Laurie and Gary Andrews of Whitesboro, Texas; aunt, Betty Jean Kolterman of Seward; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clarence and Dolores Arbaugh of Fremont; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Nuria Arbaugh of Fremont; nieces and nephews; several cousins and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Stephen.
