Obituary

Steven Perry Carr was born November 6, 1949 in Lincoln, Nebraska and passed away on October 9, 2018 at his home near Seward, Nebraska at the age of 68 years, 11 months, 3 days. Steve was the son of Charles "Dale" and Freda Florence (Hickson) Carr and was raised in the Garland area. Steve attended school in Garland through his sophomore year and was a 1968 graduate of Seward High School. He attended John F. Kennedy College in Wahoo, Nebraska where he graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1972. While attending college, Steve played baseball and basketball on scholarship. On April 8, 1978 Steve was united in marriage to Denise "Denny" Dayle Hagemoser and their marriage was blessed with three sons: Shawn, Jesse and Timothy Perry Carr. The Carr family lived all of their life in the Seward area. Steve was employed with Elaison & Knuth Drywall through college and for several years following and later formed his own company, Carr & Sieck Drywall, retiring in 2009.

Steve played on numerous baseball and basketball teams and later enjoyed slow pitch softball. He played on slow pitch state championship teams and was awarded numerous MVP designations leading to him being the first slow pitch softball player inducted into the Nebraska State Softball Hall of Fame in 2003. Steve had many hobbies which brought great joy to his days including fishing, hunting, and long drives in the country to enjoy wildlife with family and friends.

Steve was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Amy Lyn Carr; his parents Charles "Dale" Carr and Freda Florence Carr; and parents-in-law, Donald and Jeanne Hagemoser.
Survivors cherishing Steve's life include his wife of 40 years, Denny Carr, Seward; sons and daughters-in-law: Shawn and Rebecca (Ruether) Carr, Seward, and their children: Kinsley, Kora and Kamryn StevieLyn Carr; Drs. Jesse and Christa (Wolff) Carr, West Point and their children: Caleb, Reid and Jaxson; Timothy Perry Carr, Lincoln. Additional survivors include: stepmother, Iris Carr, Seward; step mother-in-law, Elaine Hagemoser, Seward; siblings: Darrel Carr, Garland, Kay (Tom) Myers, San Antonio, TX, Tammy (Kenny) Kovar, Rising City; inlaws: Kelly (Mike) Stahly, Lincoln, J. Don "Corky" (Lori) Hagemoser, Lincoln; nieces and nephews and a multitude of devoted friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Steve.
