Obituary

Sylvia Ann (Vondra) Reinmiller was born on January 20, 1931, in Bee, Nebraska to Fred George and Anna Marie (Drbal) Vondra and passed away in McAllen, Texas on July 4, 2021, at the age of 90 years, 5 months and 14 days.

Sylvia attended Seward High School and graduated with the Class of 1948. On March 15, 1949, she was united in marriage to Otis Reinmiller at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lincoln, Nebraska. Sylvia joined the Auxiliary of the Nebraska Rural Letter Carriers Association in 1951. She served her state as First District Committeewoman, Vice President and President in 1960-1971. Sylvia was appointed Postmaster at Staplehurst, Nebraska in 1979 and she retired in 1991. She received several awards during her career such as Nebraska Postmaster of the Year, Bicentennial Award from the Postal Service, Service Award from the Epilepsy Foundation and Award of Honor from the National Safety Council.

After retirement from the postal service, Otis and Sylvia volunteered their services with Mobile Missionaries Assistance Program, a missionary group that built churches and schools all over the U.S. and Mexico. They later moved to Texas where they worked for the Rio Grande Children's Home and Valley Christian School.  They were missionaries in Honduras where they conducted medical clinics and served the Lord by feeding children there as well. Sylvia was a former member of Beaver Crossing Christian Fellowship and a member of Baptist Temple in McAllen, Texas.

Sylvia is preceded in death by her husband, Otis Reinmiller; son, Alan Reinmiller; parents, Fred and Anna Vondra; brother, Virgil Vondra; sister, Sally Roberts.

Survivors cherishing her memory include her son, Eric and wife, Lynn Reinmiller, Lincoln, NE; daughters, Patti Galindo, McAllen, TX, Jean and husband, Mike Lehmann, Hammond, WI; daughter-in-law, Deb Reinmiller, Ft. Myers, FL; brother, Fred and wife, Patricia Vondra, Lincoln, NE; grandchildren, Michael, Daniel, Chris and Erin (Reinmiller) Davis, Jason and Justin Schneider, RJ Wright and 15 great-grandchildren. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of a life shared with Sylvia.
