Terry Rowe Smetter was born October 24, 1947 in Seward, Nebraska to Frank Benjamin and Gladys Opal (Huffman) Smetter and passed away on June 24, 2006 in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 58 years, 8 months. Terry attended Beaver Crossing High School and served his country in the U.S. Army from November of 1967 through November of 1969, serving in Vietnam. Terry was previously employed at the Utica Coop, Sunflower at York and most recently with Volzke Corporation in Utica. He also helped various farmers in the Utica area with their farming operations. Terry was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ in Goehner and was also a member of American Legion Post No. 49 in Utica and the Utica Volunteer Fire Department. Terry was preceded in death by his father, Frank B. Smetter and his brother, Marion Smetter. Terry is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jody and Brad Newman, York; his son, Mike Smetter, York; three grandchildren, Robby, LaTasha, and Jonathan; his mother, Gladys Smetter, Seward; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Sandy Smetter, Doniphan; sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Stan Litty, Seward; 6 nephews; 1 niece; aunts and uncles; his former wife, Bonita Smetter, York; Debe and the Nursing Staff at Lindenwood and Heather at the VA Dialysis Center. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Terry. |
