Tom was born May 27, 1953 in Seward, NE to Louis Thomas and Ruby Viola (Lusher) Kolar. He had two sisters, Bonnie and Jane. Tom was raised in Dwight, NE, a small town 35 miles outside of Lincoln where he grew up helping his father with the family owned Mobile Gas Station. He attended Dwight Elementary School and graduated from East Butler High School.

After graduation, Tom attended Diesel Mechanic School at Milford Technical College in Milford, NE. Following graduation in December 1972, Tom began working as a mechanic with the Nebraska Department of Roads in David City, NE. In May 1973, he began his career as a Diesel Mechanic for Ryder Truck Rental in Lincoln, NE.

Toms career quickly advanced with Ryder Truck Rental as he earned promotions as a service manager and District Service Manager. The promotions took the family to many different locations including Norfolk, NE, Abilene, KS, Rockfalls, IL, Des Moines, IA, Miami, FL and Memphis, TN.

After 23 years with Ryder Truck Rental, Tom resigned and in October 1995 began working as a District Fleet Manager for Federal Express. Shortly after beginning his career with FedEx, Tom was promoted to Managing Director of International Vehicle Maintenance.

In June of 2002, Tom received an opportunity to work as the Vice President of Fleet Maintenance for ServiceMaster. Although Tom enjoyed ServiceMaster, he left the Company in 2004 to follow his dream of owning his own business and quickly opened Collierville Motors in Collierville, TN. Tom poured his heart and soul into the business and loved the independence of doing whatever he wanted. He loved going to the car auctions and selling used cars. In listening to him talk to his customers about the cars, you would often hear him say It is what it is.. This soon became the slogan for his business.

Although he loved the business, Tom decided he needed more and in May 2006 after closing Collierville Motors, he joined Builders Transportations as Director of Maintenance.

On July 14, 1973, Tom married his high school sweetheart, Joyce Potter. God blessed Tom and Joyce with three beautiful children Tiffany, September 14, 1974, Jeremy, September 1, 1975 and Aaron, September 30, 1977. Tom lived his life for his kids on any given day you would often hear him bragging about some accomplishment or a funny story that they had shared with him. Tom was later blessed with a wonderful son-in-law, Matthew Cardwell and two great daughters-in-law, Jennifer and Angie. Four beautiful grandkids soon followed, Georganna, Maddy, Emma and Reese. He was soo proud of his kids and grandkids and decorated his home with all their pictures.

Following in Fathers footsteps, Tom was happiest when he had a little dirt and grease on him. He loved to wander through salvage yards or search the internet for a car or truck to rebuild and later sell or keep for one of his kids.

He was bound and determined despite the increasing gray hairs to never grow old. In 2002, he purchased his Harley Motorcycle which he named Sharika with the dream of roaming the open road with the wind blowing in his face. He loved that motorcycle and was fortunate to find many close friends who shared his passion. Tom was lucky to be able to ride his bike to Sturgis and Daytona Bike Week. He often road his bike to visit his kids in Omaha, NE and Atlanta, GA.

Tom lived life to the fullest. He always had a funny joke to share and silly grin on his face. He is already deeply missed.
