Obituary

Vance Henry Hinrichs was born December 8, 1930 in Herkimer, Kansas, the son of Henry and Esther (Holle) Hinrichs and passed away on March 5, 2018 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 87 years, 2 months, 25 days. On June 6, 1954, Vance was united in marriage to Carol Pauline Werth at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Denver, Colorado. Their marriage was blessed with five children: Sue, Michael, Karen, David, Paul.

Vance graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Concordia in Seward; he earned his Master of Arts degree from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley and then received his ED.D. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Vance's career path included the following: teacher and principal at St. Peter's Lutheran School in Snyder, Nebraska, teacher and principal at Grace Lutheran School in Fargo, ND, teacher and principal at Trinity Lutheran School in Greeley, Colorado, Mathematics and Statistics professor and Dean of Business Administration at Concordia University – Seward and realtor for LCEF advance church sites. Vance also served as chairman for LCMS Lutheran Church Extension Fund, vice chairman of LCMS Worker Benefit Plans, Concordia Board of Regents, Concordia Foundation, Silver Eagles. Vance's interests and hobbies included photography, family history, fishing, sports and spending time with his grandchildren.

Vance was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Esther Hinrichs and daughter-in-law, Debra Hinrichs.

Survivors cherishing Vance's memory include his wife, Carol Hinrichs, Seward; children and spouses: Sue and Ron Krueger, Bloomington, IL, Michael Hinrichs, Blair, NE, Karen and Steve Hoger, Seward, David Hinrichs, Lincoln, Paul and Suzanne Hinrichs, Auburn, NE. Additional survivors: 13 grandchildren and spouses: Andrew Krueger, Jonathan Krueger, Timothy Hinrichs, Nathan (Leigh) Hinrichs, Ben Hinrichs, Mark (Emily) Hoger, Amy (Aaron) Podschun, Ryan Hinrichs, Ashley (John) Siebert, Mitchell Hinrichs, Sarah (Ben) Wheeler, Thomas Hinrichs, Rachel Hinrichs; four great-grandchildren: Ayden Siebert, Braylon Siebert, Theo Hinrichs, Lily Hinrichs; two sisters, Iona (Dave) Bathke, Thornton,CO, Vaneta Hinrichs, Wheat Ridge, CO; two sisters-in-law, Ruth (Frank) Spiva, Fort Collins, CO, Judy (Gerald) Roggow, Enid, OK; nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
