Velma Berdean (Welch) Imig was born in Seward County, Nebraska on April 19, 1920, the daughter of Ray Edward "Pete" and Eula Vivian (Ashton) Welch. Velma passed away on June 12, 2011 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 91 years, 1 month, 23 days. Velma attended school in Seward and Staplehurst. On January 21, 1939 she was united in marriage to Arnold Frederick Imig and their marriage was blessed with one daughter, Janyce. Velma was a member of the Seward United Methodist Church. She was a great collector of clowns - many, many clowns! Velma is preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Imig, in 1990; her parents, Ray "Pete" and Eula Welch; brother and sister-in-law, Lyle and Lavern Arnold; grandson, Tim Walters; sisters-in-law, Bernice Heyen and Harriet White and brother-in-law, Richard Imig. Velma is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Janyce and Clyde Hobbs, Seward; two granddaughters and their husbands, Michelle and Ryan Yoder, Friend and Twila and John Gann, Navarre, Florida; six great-grandchildren, Brandon Yoder, Blair Yoder, Levi Walters, Logan Walters, Braedon Gann and Bryce Gann; sisters-in-law, Jane Tonniges, Seward, Leona Buettgenbach, Lincoln, Joyce Imig, Omaha; other relatives and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers, and memories of life shared with Velma. |
