Vera Ann Divis was born March 9, 1922 in Wahoo, Nebraska, the daughter of Henry, Sr. and Aloisie (Dostal)Pokorny and passed away in Lincoln, Nebraska on September 29, 2014 at the age of 92 years, 6 months, 20 days. Vera attended District 44 school near Wahoo and was a 1939 graduate of Weston High School. Vera was united in marriage to Dick Baker in 1944 and four children were born to their unionLes, Roma, Craig and Kim. On December 9, 1964, Vera was united in marriage to Raymond Ludvik Divis and their marriage was blessed with one son, Tracy. Vera was employed with Alco, at the Schuyler Hospital and from 1970-1972 Vera and Ray owned VeRay's Café at Rogers, Nebraska. Vera was employed with Centennial Public Schools as a Janitor and later was a homemaker. She was a member of Hillcrest Evangelical Free Church in Seward. Vera is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Divis in 2009; her parents, Henry, Sr. and Aloisie Pokorny; her brothers, Henry, Emil, Edward and Reuben Pokorny and her sisters, Mildred Bensen, Jarmilla Schlotman and Louise Navrkal. Vera is survived by her children and their spouses, Les and Kelly Baker, Prescott Valley, AZ, Roma and Terry Jordan, Brainard, Craig and Donna Baker, Cortez, CO, Kim and Bill Oldenhuis, Omaha, Tracy and Beth Divis, Kansas City, MO, Jeri and Lynn Naber, Beaver Crossing and Janel and Marshall Menz, Perry, IA; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.
