Verda Sophia Emma von Fange was born in Seward, Nebraska on April 21, 1916 to O.H. and Elizabeth (Miller) Kroeger. She was baptized on May 7, 1916 by Rev. C.H. Becker. She attended St. John Lutheran School and was confirmed by C.H. Becker. After graduating from Seward High School in 1934 and the Lincoln School of Commerce, she served as a legal secretary prior to her marriage to Theodore von Fange on October 27, 1939 by C.H. Becker. Verda was a devoted homemaker, wife and mother, faithful to God and active in church womens groups. After the children were grown she served as a secretary to the principal of St. Johns Academy in Winfield Kansas and later as assistant librarian at Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas. Since returning to Seward in 1991, she was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church, the Concordia Guild, LWML, the Ladies Aid and the Lied Senior Center. The Lord called her to her heavenly home on November 11 at the age of 89 years, 6 months, and 21 days. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Allan. Survivors include her husband, Dr. Theodore von Fange, her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Bryce Clausen of Utica; her daughters; Sylvia of Austin, Texas and Susan of Harrison Township, Michigan; her son and daughter-in-law, Howard and Rose von Fange of Wichita, Kansas; grandchildren, Sarah von Fange of Wichita, Paul von Fange of San Diego, California, Steve Clausen of Lincoln, Krista Clausen of Lincoln and great-grandchildren; Dacia von Fange and Jordan von Fange of Wichita, Kaleb Blakemore of Lincoln and Zachary Clausen of Lincoln; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers, and memories of life shared with Verda. |
