Obituary
After he was honorably discharged on April 26, 1954, he returned home and was united in marriage to Barbara Haase on March 10, 1955. They were blessed with three children Michael, Paul and Michelle. Vernon was devoted to his wife and children becoming a grandfather and great-grandfather.
He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church serving as an elder and Sunday school teacher. He was totally involved in the community, serving on the Pleasant Dale Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department and local Mutual Aid for 50 plus years. He served as Village Clerk then later with Village maintenance with his good friend Tom Vance. He loved coaching Girls softball. He was also a member of Legion Post #354.
With an accounting degree he worked as a computer programmer, later as an analyst retiring from Crete Carrier in 1997. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved to play golf, hunt and fish especially with his children and grandchildren. His leisure time was spent reading, especially history.
Vern is preceded in death by his parents, his older brother Arthur, his Aunt Alice and his brother-in-law Eugene Hromas.
Survivors cherishing Vern's memory include his wife of 62 years, Barbara; three children and spouse: Michael of Salt Lake City, UT, Paul of Pleasant Dale, Michelle and husband Steve Rogge of Pleasant Dale; grandchildren: Jill and husband Tom Hanson, Kristen and husband Trent Millet, Eric Lemmert, Matthew Rogge, Samuel Rogge and Sarah Rogge; great-grandchildren: Kaylynn and Everett Hanson, Addison Millet; brother Ralph Lemmert and many nieces and nephews.
