Veronica Marie (Tesina) Gabel was born on February 4, 1965, in Seward, Nebraska to John and Genevieve (Vavra) Tesina and peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on August 10, 2025, in Bee, Nebraska at the age of 60 years, 6 months and 6 days.
Veronica grew up on the family farm in Bee, Nebraska and attended Aquinas Catholic School and graduated from East Butler Public School with the Class of 1983. Following high school, Veronica attended Southeast Community College and Peru State College where she obtained her bachelor's degree. In 1986, she was united in marriage to Mitch Gabel and to this union three children were born. The majority of Veronica's career was spent working at Region V in both Seward and Lincoln from 1990 to 2020. She also owned and operated The Second Closet in downtown Seward for a few years.
Veronica was very active in her kids' school and extracurricular activities and loved attending all of their games. Veronica was also involved in the Bee community and was always volunteering her time at fundraising events throughout the years. In her free time, she enjoyed photography, singing and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Veronica was a member of the Seward County Ukuladies and was a lifelong and active member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Bee.
For the past 15 years Veronica battled cancer with courage and strength. Through countless treatments, setbacks and moments of fear, she never allowed the illness to define her. She lived fully, loved fiercely and found immense strength and comfort in her deep faith. Veronica beat many odds that were held against her multiple times throughout her cancer journey. She was a fighter.
Veronica is preceded in death by her father, John Tesina; brother-in-law, Paul Witzel; former father-in-law, Boyd Gabel; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Survivors cherishing her memory include her children and their significant others, Kyle Gabel (Meagan Manning), Elizabeth (Andrew) Koepp, Jaime Gabel (Jason Orr); grandchildren, Kaden Shepherd, Brenna Koepp, Karina Koepp; mother, Genevieve Tesina; sister, Lori Witzel (Larry Hill); brother, John Tesina; former husband, Mitch Gabel; former mother-in-law, Molly Gabel; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.
