Victor Kovar was born on July 7, 1930, in Garland, Nebraska to Cyrill and Bessie (Hromas) Kovar and passed away January 1, 2024, in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 93 years, 5 months and 25 days.
Victor grew up on the family farm outside of Garland, Nebraska and graduated from Garland High School with the Class of 1947. After high school, he enlisted into the U.S. Air Force where he served from 1951 to 1955. During his time in the Air Force, he served in the Korean War. After being honorably discharged from the military, he attended the University of Nebraska- Lincoln where he obtained his Bachelor of Business degree. On February 15, 1958, Victor was united in marriage to Annabelle Rohe and to this union seven children were born. Victor also served in the Nebraska Air National Guard. Victor's lifelong career was at Union Insurance where he worked as a claims adjustor and later became Vice President in the claims department. In his free time, Victor enjoyed fishing and traveling. One of his favorite places to visit was Prague and he even took classes to learn the Czech language. Victor served as a Boy Scout leader for numerous years and was a member of the DAV in Lincoln, Seward V.F.W. Post #4755, Garland American Legion Post #369, Knights of Colombus Bishop Kucera Assembly #0595 of Lincoln, Chalis Club and St. John the Apostle Catholic Church.
Victor is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Annabelle Kovar; son, Mark Kovar; brothers, Larry Kovar and Gary Kovar; sisters, Bessie Fletcher and Gladys Roebke.
Survivors cherishing his memory include his children, Steve (Paula) Kovar, Tom Kovar, Teresa (Mitch) Forst, Jim Kovar, Tim Kovar, Kristen (Nate) Rico; grandchildren, Lisa, Jenny, Aubrey, Ashley, Adam, Cejay, Brooklyn; great-grandchildren, Tucker, Piper, Addie, Millie, Irwin, Henry, Henry, Van, Bryson, Keadyn, Ellie and Jaxxon; brothers, Cyrill Kovar, Ernie Kovar, Dan Kovar and David Kovar.
