IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Viola
Boldebuck-Zwick
May 18, 1925 – August 27, 2025
Our Savior Jesus Christ has destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel. Let us remember with thanksgiving what God has done through His servant Viola.
Viola May Boldebuck-Zwick was born on May 18, 1925, to Herman and Anna (Schroeder) Bahr in Garland, NE. By God's grace, she received the blessings of Holy Baptism on June 7, 1925, at Zion, Garland, NE, and received the rite of confirmation on May 28, 1939, at Holy Cross, Goehner, NE.
Vi attended Goehner High School for three years and graduated from Thayer High School in 1943.
Vi was united in marriage to Ewald Boldebuck on May 26, 1945, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Staplehurst, NE. To this union they were blessed with 3 children, Carolyn, Thomas and Debra.
Vi and Ewald farmed and lived south of Staplehurst. They were in neighborhood card clubs and in a shuffleboard league for quite a few years. Vi was a 4-H leader, joined the Staplehurst Community Club in 1952, and was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary. Vi was your friendly Avon lady who came to your homes. She also waitressed at Dale's Steakhouse in Seward. Before retiring, she worked at Seward Memorial Hospital for 19 years as a purchasing and receiving clerk.
After Ewald passed away, Vi married Melvin Zwick, a family friend and widower, on July 21, 1990, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Staplehurst, NE. She was blessed with 3 stepdaughters, Nancy, Donna and Lori.
Vi was a faithful member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church where she made quilts with the quilting group. She also did a lot of her own quilting for family members, loved putting puzzles together, growing African Violets and playing bingo to win toilet paper.
On August 27, 2025, having reached the age of 100 years, 3 months, and 9 days, God graciously received Vi from this vale of tears to His eternal home in heaven.
Vi is survived by her children, Carolyn Sampson, Colorado Springs, CO, Tom (Jeri) Boldebuck, Seward, NE, Deb (John) Duensing, Phoenix, AZ; step children Nancy (Gale) Patrick, Roseville, CA, Donna Settle, Seward, NE, Lori (Alan) Tiemann, Seward, NE; Grandchildren, Kristin (Tom) Reed, Tyler (Sarah) Duensing, Kyle (Laura) Duensing; Grandsons-in-law, Edgar Block, and Scott Weatherlow; Great Grandchildren, Natasha & Aaron Block, David & Adeline Duensing, Madison Duensing; Great Great grandchild, Sasha Craig; Step Grandchildren, Matthew (Tia) Patrick, Lisa (Bruce) Harrod, Jeremy (Jennifer) Gehle, Sonya (Toby) Garcia, Brian Tiemann, and Dan (Casey) Tiemann; Step Great Grandchildren, Grayson, Illa & Jane Patrick, Tyler & Lauren Harrod, Deacon Gehle, Hunter, Hayden & Hoyt Garcia, Olivia & Wyatt Tiemann, relatives and friends.
