Obituary

Virginia Marie (Hotovy) Hoffbauer was born July 22, 1927 near Brainard, Nebraska to Jacob and Emily (Houdek) Hotovy and passed away on December 22, 2012 at the age of 85 years, 5 months. Virginia's father passed away when she was eight years old and her mother later remarried John Kresse. Virginia was a 1945 graduate of Dwight Assumption High School. On June 3, 1947, Virginia was united in marriage to Arthur John Hoffbauer at Assumption Catholic Church in Dwight, Nebraska. Their marriage was blessed with seven children, Arthur W., Jr., Cheryl, Allen, Deb, Brenda, Bruce, Duane. Virginia worked at the Air Base in Lincoln for a year and a half and was an Amway Distributor for 20 years, but her primary vocation was being a farm/house wife for 50 + years. Virginia was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and PCCW in Brainard. She was a student of the Bible and participated in Bible study for many years. Virginia wanted to share with others that through grace all can be saved. Her hobbies were cooking, baking, sewing, gardening, and listening to music. Virginia had a gift of hospitality and always welcomed family and friends to their home. Through the many experiences of raising a family and life's trials and tribulations, Virginia possessed a simple faith. In Virginia's words, "Through it all I knew God was with us and He carried us." Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Emily Hotovy and her stepfather, John Kresse; her daughter, Cheryl Underwood and her sister and brother-in-law, Angela and Jim Kutka. Survivors who will cherish Virginia's memory include her husband, Arthur J. Hoffbauer, Sr.; her children and their spouses, Arthur W., Jr. and Joan Hoffbauer, Cape Coral, FL, Allen and Karen Hoffbauer, Seward, Deb and Greg Novacek, Seward, Brenda Grgurich, Lincoln, Bruce Hoffbauer, David City, Duane and Shirley Hoffbauer, Valparaiso; 23 grandchildren and spouses, Lori Hoffbauer, Artie Hoffbauer, Jessica and Brian Jorde, Jake Hoffbauer, Mark and Deb Underwood, Matt and Michelle Underwood, Bill and Amanda Underwood, Laura and Steve Peterson, John Underwood, Virginia Underwood, Amy and Jon Metschke, Jason and Heidi Hoffbauer, April Hoffbauer, Brad and Martha Novacek, Aaron Novacek, Rachel and Daniel Houston, Sarah and Marshal Pankoke, Janell Grgurich, Nicole Snyder, Joy Grgurich, Kara Hoffbauer, Molly Hoffbauer, Tim Hoffbauer; 20 great-grandchildren; her siblings and spouses, Jake and Sally Hotovy, Lincoln, Arlene and Ray Grubbs, Ft. Worth, TX, Donald Hotovy, Colorado, Darlene and Eugene Divis, David City; other relatives and a host of friends.
