Wesley Henry Ficke was born on August 24, 1928, on the family farm Northeast of Milford to Paul and Anna (Hanseling) Ficke. He passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at the age of 88 years, 1 month and 11 days. He was united in marriage to Janice A. Bluhm on August 19, 1951 in Seward, NE. In this union three children were born, Steven Wesley, Sharon Lynette and Beth Ann.
Wesley worked in Seward for a few years before starting his lifetime career of farming. He loved the outdoors, working the soil, growing crops and raising Hereford cows. When Wesley was not farming, he loved to spend time with his family and church family. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Faith Lutheran Church and Living Word Lutheran Church. He was a deacon and board member for many years and always found it a joy to serve others.
Wesley graduated from Milford High School in 1945. He was a board member of Milford Co-op for fifteen years, Seward County Planning and Zoning Board for twenty years and served on the Seward County FSA Board. He farmed for sixty plus years and then retired to Seward. He always enjoyed talking with people, reading and making people laugh. He will be greatly missed by his family, church family and a host of friends.
He is survived by his wife, Janice, Seward; daughter, Beth and Greg Roth, Milford; son-in-law, Tim and Kathleen Curtis, Milford; grandchildren, Evan Curtis, Cori and Karise Curtis, Jordan and Jessica Curtis, Jamie Roth and Kellie Roth; great grandson, Isaac Curtis; sister-in-law, Alice Ficke.
Wesley was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Anna Ficke; sister, Florence and husband Chester Fosler; brother, Ralph Ficke; infant son, Steven Wesley; daughter, Sharon Curtis; father and mother-in-law, Theo and Edna Bluhm; sister-in-law, Lois Jane Perlinger and brother-in-law, Andrew Perlinger.
