Willard George Kilzer was born December 21, 1919 in Falcon, Colordo to Otto George and Florence Hazel (Darnell) Kilzer and passed away at home surrounded by family on January 27, 2013 at the age of 93 years,, 1 month, 6 days. The family moved to Seward County, Nebraska when Willard was two; he grew up on the Darnell family homestead farm north of Garland. He attended school at Oak Grove (District 13) and graduated from Garland High School in 1937. He was a faithful attendee of Alumni banquets. Willard was united in marriage to Audrey Mae Graham at the 1st Presbyterian Church of Seward on September 22, 1946. Their union of 66 years was blessed with four children. Willard farmed his entire life starting on the farm north of Garland and moving the family to the farm north of Seward in 1958 where he lived until his death. Upon retirement from active farming, Willard was employed by Cargill Research for 10 years. He was active on many boards including county fair, co-op, church, school and election. Willard was a longtime member of the 1st Presbyterian Church of Seward and currently a member of Great Plains Community Church in Goehner. He enjoyed fishing, backpacking, camping, giving his great grandkids rides on his golf cart and Amtrak traveling with his wife, children and friends. He was very proud of his garden, raising and giving away his produce especially his sweet corn. Willard was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Willard is preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Florence Kilzer; his son, Bruce Kilzer; sisters and brothers-in-law, Nola and Russell McAdams, Margaret and Bernie Engler and Beverly and Dean Housel. Survivors include his wife, Audrey, Seward; children, Jolene and husband, Walt Catlett of North Platte, Rick Kilzer of Lake Winnebago, Missouri and Laurie Kilzer of Lincoln; grandchildren, Cara and Eric Putman, Lafayette, IN, Janna and Matt Ryan, Josh and Sarah Catlett, Joel and Michele Catlett, all of North Platte, Beth and Matt Hraban, Lutz, FL, Julie and Troy Morris, Grand Island, Jill and Scott Henn, Lincoln; 23 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Jane McCasland, Colorado, Elva Lee Wilken, Garland, Norma and her husband, Fritz Duer, Staplehurst; brother-in-law and wife, Dean and Gladys Graham, Lincoln; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
