William Armstrong Wright was born October 29, 1916 in Plymouth, Nebraska the son of Leroy Singleton and Mahala Barbara (Maharg) Wright and passed away on March 12, 2015 in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 98 years, 4 months, 12 days. William was a 1936 graduate of high school in New Bloomfield, Missouri. Bill was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II as a Sergeant with the 11th Armored Division. On November 17, 1949, William was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth Parnham at Rockport, Missouri and their marriage was blessed with one daughter, Barbara. Bill was employed with Burlington Railroad for 40 years, retiring in 1977. He served as a track inspector in the rail yards. Bill was awarded the Purple Heart during his military service and was a member of the Purple Heart organization. They enjoyed retirement years as campers with the Good Sam Club and Burlington Camping Club. They lived all of their married life in Lincoln, until Bill and Elizabeth moved to the Waverly Care Center in 2013 and following Elizabeth's death in April of 2014, Bill moved to Madonna in Lincoln. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Mahala Wright; his wife, Elizabeth Wright; four sisters, Eldora Wright, Esther Kirby, Sarah Pavey, Roberta Long and three brothers, Arch Wright, George Wright, Charles Wright. Bill is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Vic Wright, Lincoln; three grandchildren, Becky and Bob McGrath, Eagle, Rod and Jodi Wright, Westcliffe, CO, Rhonda and Mark Connett, Lincoln; two great-grandchildren, Jennifer and Nick Manning and Aaron and Sharon McGrath; three great-great-grandchildren, Elleigh and Kynzie Manning and Isaac McGrath; nephews and many friends.
