Wilma Marjorie (Munk) Mumm was born December 29, 1915 on a farm northwest of Staplehurst, Nebraska to Nels Hansen and Anna Johanna (Nelson) Munk and passed away in Seward, Nebraska on January 4, 2006 at the age of 90 years, 6 days. Wilma was baptized at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Staplehurst. She lived on the farm near Staplehurst until the family moved to Brush, Colorado where she attended elementary school. Upon returning to Staplehurst she was confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church and graduated from Seward High School in 1933. Wilma was employed at the Continental Oil Company office in Lincoln for 7 years. On November 27, 1941, Wilma was united in marriage to Oscar Henrik Mumm at Our Saviors Lutheran Church. She joined Oscar in California where the 134th Infantry was located and worked in the office of an airplane factory. When Oscars company was called to leave for Europe, Wilma returned to Nebraska. After Oscars homecoming from WW II, the family lived in Omaha for 5 years and then moved back to Seward County and farmed. Wilma was employed at the Seward County Welfare Office for several years and retired in December of 1977. She and Oscar moved to Seward in 1980. Wilma was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Seward where she had served as a Sunday School teacher and belonged to the womens church groups. She had been a member of an extension club. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, Nels and Anna Munk and two brothers, Clifford and Dale Munk. Wilma is survived by her husband, Oscar Mumm, Seward; son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Bonnie Mumm, Kearney; daughter, Kathy Spangler, Overland Park, KS; 4 grandchildren, Jackie Gill, Erik Mumm, Todd Spangler, Ian Spangler; great-grandson, Jack Gill; cousins, a nephew and a host of friends.
