Wilmar Peter Schoepf was born March 2, 1923 in Staplehurst, Nebraska to George A. and Frieda (Daehling) Schoepf and passed away in Seward, Nebraska on April 18, 2008 at the age of 85 years, 1 month, 16 days. Bill was baptized and confirmed at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, rural Staplehurst. He attended Immanuel Lutheran School, Staplehurst and was a 1941 graduate of Seward High School. Bill served his country in the U.S. Navy from January 26, 1943 through November 26, 1945 as a 1st motor machinist on the USS Warren. On June 5, 1943, he was united in marriage to Helen Eileen Anstine; their marriage was blessed with two children, Bruce and Trudy. Bill was a salesman for Omar Bread in Lincoln, he owned a gas station in Milford, was a candy salesman for OM Anderson and was a car salesman for Rolfsmeier Motors until his retirement. Bill was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Seward; other memberships included -life member of VFW Post No. 4755 and past District Commander; American Legion Post No. 33 in Seward and the Seward Volunteer Fire Department. Bill had many lovesbaseball, cars, taking care of his yard, putting up the flag at Seward home football games and watching his grandsons wrestle. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen in April of 2003; his son, Bruce A. Schoepf in August of 2003; mother, Frieda Schoepf; father, George Schoepf; stepmother, Lenore Schoepf; brothers, Melvin and wife, Marge Schoepf, Wayne Schoepf and sister, Elvira and her husband, Milton Hackbart. Bill is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Trudy and Brian Gocke of York and their children, Dawn Gocke and fiance, Craig Ninehueser and Curtis and his wife, Tahlia Gocke and their daughter, Amelia; his daughter-in-law, Karel Schoepf of Seward and children, Jessica Schoepf, Jeff and Heather Schoepf, Jennell Schoepf, Jeramie and Kim Schoepf, Josh Schoepf; great-grandchildren, Jesse, Hattie, Wyatt, Breckin, Emma and Mikah; sisters-in-law, Ruth Schoepf of Roseville, Califormia and Edith Hafemeister of Seward; other relatives and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Bill. |
