Policky
July 16, 1934 – October 19, 2021
Joseph John Policky was born on July 16, 1934, near Bee, Nebraska to Joseph and Mary (Buresh) Policky and passed away on October 19, 2021, in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 87 years, 3 months and 3 days.
Joe grew up in the Bee area where he attended country school. He began working with his father on the family farm. Joe enlisted into the United States Navy on December 6, 1954, he was stationed on the USS Piedmont. He was honorably discharged on September 28, 1960. Upon his return to Seward, Joe worked at Big G Masonry as a brick layer for many years. He was united in marriage to Sandra Sinn in Seward and to this union two children were born, Joe and Julie. He later began working at Ace Hardware warehouse in Lincoln until his retirement in 1994.
Joe loved sitting outside and watching the traffic on the interstate and reading the newspaper. He enjoyed being outside mowing, gardening, planting trees and flowers. Joe volunteered in many ways including the Nebraska State Fair for 10+ years and Camp Creek Threshers. Joe was a man of faith. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #8469, Seward and VFW Post #10491, Valparaiso. He loved helping with the tootsie roll drive and being a bell ringer during the Christmas season.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sandra on April 24, 2012; son, Ronald Sinn on August 1, 2016; sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Rodney Poe; brother, Aldon Policky; brother-in-law, Clarence Ekstein.
Survivors cherishing his memory include his children, Vickie and husband, Matt Pfeifer, Debi Bruha, Michael Sinn, Joseph Policky and Julie Waegli; 10 grandchildren: Jeremy, Jeff, Tammy, Cari, Casey, Jill, Lexi, Adrian, Kylie and Kiara; 20 great-grandchildren; sister, Alice Ekstein, Valparaiso, NE and many nieces and nephews. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of a life shared with Joe.
